The Labour Party faction led by Julius Abure has dismissed rumours regarding forming a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. Instead, they are focused on rebuilding and consolidating the gains made in the 2023 elections.
Following a National Executive Council meeting in Abuja, Abure, the National Chairman, and National Secretary, Umar Ibrahim, stated that the coalition formed for the 2023 elections is more significant than any potential new alliances.

The statement affirmed the legitimacy of Abure’s leadership, referencing a Supreme Court judgment that validated the outcomes of the party’s National Convention. The faction urged INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu to acknowledge the Supreme Court’s ruling and to condemn the “purported” NEC meeting of a rival faction.
The Abure-led Labour Party disassociated itself from the decisions made during the rival meeting, labelling them as unlawful. The faction remains dedicated to resolving internal conflicts and strengthening the party’s structure in preparation for the 2027 elections.
