The Chairman of Royal Renaissance and Grand Patron of Ezenaebiri, His Royal Highness Eze Bobby Aguocha, has expressed appreciation to the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ben Kalu, for his leadership in chairing the recently concluded constitution review process in Owerri. Speaking from the venue of the Zonal Constitution Review, Eze Aguocha commended the Deputy Speaker’s expertise and experience, which undoubtedly brought valuable insights to this critical exercise.

According to Eze Aguocha, “As the second-in-command in the House of Representatives, your expertise and experience undoubtedly brought valuable insights to this critical exercise. The significance of this constitution review cannot be overstated. It presented a unique opportunity to address the myriad of challenges facing our nation, particularly in the areas of governance, resource allocation, and social justice.”

Eze Aguocha further stated that a reviewed constitution that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians will undoubtedly strengthen our democracy and promote national development. He laid special emphasis on the advancement of the Southeast region, where he stated that a reviewed constitution that addresses issues of federal character, resource control, and equitable representation will go a long way in promoting peace, stability, and development in the region.

The monarch acknowledged that the Southeast historically has had a setback in terms of infrastructure, economic development, and representation in positions of power. However, he also recognized all the efforts the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ben Kalu, has made to ameliorate some of these challenges. Eze Aguocha stated that a reviewed constitution that addresses these imbalances will help to promote a sense of belonging and citizenship among the Igbo people.

Eze Aguocha affirmed that the review process was all-inclusive, transparent, and participatory, as he was present with other Traditional Rulers to witness it as stakeholders. In his words, “The input of various stakeholders, including civil society organizations, traditional Rulers, and community groups, were sought, and they made an impact.”

Once again, he commended the leadership of Rt. Hon. Dr. Ben Kalu and looks forward to a reviewed constitution that will promote unity, stability, and development in our nation. By acknowledging the efforts of the Deputy Speaker, Eze Aguocha underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in shaping the nation’s future.
