Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has issued a stark warning to Nigerians against re-electing President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, predicting dire consequences for the nation if Tinubu secures a second term. Amaechi made these remarks while addressing members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition in Rivers State on Tuesday.
Amaechi, who recently joined the ADC, described it as the adopted party of the coalition and urged its members to mobilize for the 2027 elections. “We are new members of the ADC, it’s the adopted party of the coalition. Most importantly, have your eyes on 2027 and to have your eyes on 2027, please go home and start registration,” he said. He announced plans to form a committee to conduct a membership drive across local governments and wards to ascertain the party’s strength in the state.

The former governor also decried the prevalent issue of electoral fraud in Rivers State, accusing unnamed actors of rewriting election results. “Our state is notorious for writing results, and we must stop them from writing results. When they say that they have already written results, it discourages voters from coming out,” Amaechi stated. He called on ADC members to encourage voter turnout to challenge the current administration, warning, “We should encourage people to come out and vote for the removal of the current government or we will all die of hunger.”
Amaechi expressed dismay over the economic hardships faced by Nigerians under Tinubu’s first term, cautioning that a second term would exacerbate the situation. “Currently, Nigerians are complaining in President Tinubu’s first tenure; imagine what the second tenure will be like. Then, you’ll be dead and buried,” he declared.
The remarks have sparked reactions across political circles, with the ADC coalition positioning itself as a formidable opposition force in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections. Amaechi’s call to action underscores growing tensions and the push for electoral reforms in the state.
