The All Progressives Congress (APC) has named Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, as its new National Chairman. The appointment was confirmed during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.
Yilwatda succeeds Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned from the position last month due to health concerns. Following Ganduje’s resignation, Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North), served as acting chairman.

Party stakeholders had anticipated that the NEC would ratify Dalori’s acting role and set a timeline for an elective National Convention to select a permanent chairman. However, the NEC opted to appoint Yilwatda as the substantive chairman, marking a significant shift in the party’s leadership.
Yilwatda’s appointment takes effect immediately, and he is expected to steer the APC through its upcoming political engagements.
