The political landscape of Abia State is heating up as the 2027 elections approach. Hon. Udoeze Kalu, the Abia North Zonal Coordinator of COPDEM, has raised serious concerns about an alleged attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to plant its members as leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State. This move, according to Hon. Kalu, is aimed at perfecting their plans to hijack and weaken the new coalition in the state.
In a statement personally signed by him, Hon. Kalu expressed his disappointment and concern over the alleged plan by APC and other parties to break the ADC coalition into factions and plant their loyalists. He emphasized that this attempt will not be allowed to stand in the state, and COPDEM, Abia North Zone, is resolved to continue fighting for true democracy and good governance. He called on ADC NWC not to sleep on their oars to avoid negative outcomes from Abia State in 2027.

”The attempt to remove Obinna Don Norman as the Grassroots mobilizer of ADC who has done tremendous work in building the party is because they know that he cannot be easily bought or subdued to compromise the mandate of rescuing the people in 2027 which is the core mandate of ADC coalition.
Hon. Kalu reiterated the determination of COPDEM to protect the integrity of the ADC coalition and ensure that it is not hijacked by any political party. He warned APC and other parties to desist from their attempts to infiltrate and manipulate the structure of ADC in Abia State for their own gain.
The alleged plan by APC to hijack ADC has significant implications for the politics of Abia State. If successful, it could undermine the credibility of the ADC coalition and create divisions within the party. This could also impact the outcome of the 2027 elections and the future of politics in the state.
As the 2027 elections approach, it is essential for stakeholders in Abia State to be vigilant and ensure that the democratic process is protected. Hon. Kalu’s concerns highlight the need for transparency and accountability in the political process. Citizens must demand good governance and true democracy, and parties must be held accountable for their actions.

The alleged attempt by APC to hijack ADC in Abia State is a serious concern that requires attention from all stakeholders. COPDEM’s resolve to protect the integrity of the ADC coalition is a welcome development, and citizens must support efforts to promote true democracy and good governance in the state. As the 2027 elections approach, the people of Abia State must be vigilant and ensure that their voices are heard.
