FG sues Meta, owners of Facebook, Whatsapp, seeks N30bn

The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria has lodged a suit against Meta Platforms Incorporated, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp platforms and its agent – AT3 Resources Limited – at the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division. This was disclosed in a statement by the highest regulatory body for Nigeria’s advertising, ARCON. ARCON is arguing that Meta Platforms Incorporated has continued to expose the Federal Government to loss of revenue adverts. The National Industrial Court has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to call off the ongoing strike. Court postpones FG’s lawsuit against striking uni. professors

The National Industrial Tribunal of Nigeria (NICN), a Court laden with the responsibility for settling labor disputes on Monday, adjourned the lawsuit filed by the federal government challenging the ongoing strike of the Union of Academic Staff of Universities (ASUU). The judge, PI Hamman, adjourned the lawsuit until September 16 to receive further subpoenas. In Monday’s proceedings, the Socioeconomic Rights and Accountability Project (Serap), sought to join the lawsuit as an interested party. US online university graduates over 400 Nigerians as ASUU strike rages on.

More than 400 Nigerian students have graduated from N^exford university (NXU), an American online university, for the 2021 to 2022 session. The online university, according to Country Director Olamidun Majekodunmi-Ogundoyin, was launched in the country in 2019 and has since enrolled over 3,000 students in Nigeria.
