Appeal Court upholds Adeleke as Osun Governor

Appeal Court upholds Adeleke as Osun Governor

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has set aside the decision of the Osun State Governorship Tribunal and has upheld the election of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the governor of the state. Following the governorship polls in the state, an Election Petition Tribunal sacked Adeleke from office, saying that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate did not score the majority of lawful votes during the July 16 governorship polls. However, in a unanimous agreement by a three-man panel led by Justice Mohammed Shuaibu, the Court of Appeal quashed the tribunal’s judgment and gave its verdict to uphold Adeleke as…

Opinion: Federal Republic of Thuggery

Opinion: Federal Republic of Thuggery

Shamelessness is the vilest disease of the Nigerian establishment. Author The shameless mode of the leaders of Nigeria was activated in full force on February 25 and March 18, in this year of Our Lord, when so-called national elections were staged. It all turned out to be a sham, a charade that even the most mentally retarded child would scoff at. Yet, billions were voted for the exercises that the organizers never believed in at all in the first instance. There was the initial drive of asking millions of Nigerians to acquire the Personal Voter’s Card (PVC) as the surefire…

Two of the theories deserve our interest. The first theory was that by Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who challenged the conduct of the elections at the National Collation Centre, the International Conference Centre, and the ICC in Abuja. Citing Section 50(2) of the Electoral Act 2022. According to Senator Melaye, that section of the Act says that voting at an election and the transmission of results shall be in accordance with…

UK High Court frowns at Nnamdi Kanu’s rendition to Nigeria

The British High Court has made an unconventional ruling in a significant human rights case centred on a British national and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu had approached the High Court to challenge the government of the United Kingdom for not defending him despite being a citizen of the country against the Nigerian government. Kanu’s legal team, led by John Halford, Head of Public Law and Human Rights in Blindsman LLP had said back in June 2021 that Kanu was kidnapped from the airport in Nairobi, Kenya, by Nigerian security services and was…
