AEDC announces fresh blackout in Abuja

Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), has announced that there will be power interruption in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) starting from Friday, 25th to Saturday, 26th of November 2022. AEDC, in a public notice signed by its management, noted that the interruption would enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out maintenance exercises at Suleja – Katampe 132kv transmission line from 7 am to 6 pm daily. A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama heard on Tuesday that the suspended Accountant-General of the Federation (AG-F), Ahmed Idris voluntary returned about $900,000 part of the public funds he allegedly diverted. The court also heard how N84.7billion was taken from the $2.2billion due to the nine oil producing states and shared by some senior government officials. See redesigned naira notes FG unveiled to general public

The Federal Government has unveiled the redesigned naira notes to the public. It was unveiled at the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari a few minutes ago. The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele warned Nigerians against hoarding of the old notes, saying there is no going back on the January 31st 2023 deadline to completely render the old notes useless. The redesigned notes are in denomination of N1000, N500 and N200.

NBS reveals that 133 million Nigerians are poor

The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has disclosed that 133 million Nigerians are multidimensionally poor. In its latest National Multidimensional Poverty Index Report launched on Thursday, the NBS said that 63 percent of Nigerians are poor due to a lack of access to health, education, and living standards, alongside unemployment and shocks. The MPI offers a multivariate form of poverty assessment, identifying deprivations across health, education, living standards, work, and shocks.
