Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, has threatened the Department of State Services, DSS, over failure to comply with a court ruling ordering his client’s release. Ejimakor warned that failure to release Kanu would trigger prompt judicial measures against DSS. The Special Counsel disclosed this while noting that he had served the DSS a final administrative demand for Kanu’s release. Court sentences IGP Usman Baba to 3 months in prison

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, to three months in prison for flouting a 2011 court order. The IGP’s committal followed a suit that was filed by a police officer, Patrick Okoli, who was unlawfully and compulsorily retired from the Nigerian Police Force. The court also ordered the payment of N10 million to the applicant, being special and general damages for the unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional denial of his (Patrick’s) rights and privileges as a Senior Officer of the Nigeria Police Force from 1993 till date. FCT budget jumps from N329 billion to N607.9 billion in less than 1year

The House of Representatives has passed the budget of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT for the 2022 fiscal year. The N607.9 billion budget was passed on Tuesday after consideration by the Committee on Supply. The new budget of the ministry shows that the budget of the FCT has increased from N329 billion in 2021 to N607.9 billion in 2022. The breakdown of the budget shows that N403.6 billion has been allocated for capital projects. This allocation is more than the entire N329 billion budget of 2021.
