Court sentences Danish national to death for killing Nigerian wife, daughter

A Lagos High Court on Friday sentenced a Dane, Peter Nielsen, a Danish National to death by hanging for killing his Nigerian wife and daughter. Justice Bolanle Okikiolu-Ighile convicted Nielsen, 54, on two counts of murder brought against him by the Lagos State Government. The judge sentenced Nielsen to death by hanging on both counts. The Dane was charged with the death of his wife and singer, Zainab, and their three-year-old daughter, Petra. UN reveals number of deaths recorded since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

At least 1,892 civilians have been killed and 2,558 injured since the war in Ukraine started in February, amid the Russian invasion. SEDI chief Samuel Ndubisi assassinated in Enugu

The Director-General, Science and Equipment Development Institute, Prof. Samuel Ndubisi, has been assassinated in Enugu by unidentified gunmen. This is coming barely 48 hours after the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AutoEase Service Limited, Ifeanyi Okeke was also assassinated by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in the presence of his eight-year-old son. It was gathered that the SEDI DG was shot dead along with his police orderly on the Port- Harcourt Express Road Enugu around 4 pm while he was reportedly going home. The State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was said to have visited the scene of the incident.
