Group tells DSS to arrest Sheikh Gumi for alleged romance with bandits, terrorists

For alleged romance with bandits/terrorists, a civil society organisation, under the auspices of Coalition for Peace In Nigeria (COPIN), has advised the Department of State Services (DSS), to without hesitation, arrest a Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi. COPIN opined that owing to Gumi’s persistent call on the federal government to grant the terror elements amnesty, he should ordinarily be a person of interest. ISWAP bury 26 terrorists killed in military bombardments in Borno

After sustained aerial bombardments and elimination of terrorists, surviving fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have buried 26 members in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, northeast Nigeria. The terrorists were eliminated on Sept 9, in a coordinated air strike by the Nigerian military on two camps of the ISWAP in Sigir and Yarwa Kuwa on the fringes of Lake Chad. Musiliu Smith resigns as Police commission chairman

Musiliu Smith, Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) has resigned from his position. Ikechukwu Ani, PSC Head of Information, confirmed his exit to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The spokesman disclosed that an official statement would soon be issued by the commission. Smith reportedly wrote a notice of resignation to President Muhammad Buhari which has been approved. Court gives DSS go-ahead to detain Tukur Mamu, bandits negotiator

A Federal High Court, Abuja, has granted a prayer by the Department of State Services (DSS) to detain the former terrorists’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu, for 60 more days. Many terrorists killed in Katsina as Vigilante thwart attacks
