Abia North Labour Party has commenced a fresh phase of grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, following a strategic engagement between the Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Abia North, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, MFR, OON, and Local Government and Ward executives across the senatorial district.
The meeting, described by Bourdex as a vibrant and purposeful working engagement, brought together Labour Party LGA and Ward executives to review the party’s preparedness, strengthen internal coordination and develop a grassroots strategy for the electoral contest ahead.

According to Bourdex, the strong attendance and quality of discussions demonstrated that the party’s structures understand the seriousness of the task before them.
He said the meeting was particularly important coming after the party primaries, stressing that whatever differences may have existed during the internal contest should now be put behind the party.
He urged the executives to focus on the collective responsibility of strengthening the Labour Party, mobilising voters and preparing the party’s structures for the 2027 elections.
Bourdex told the party executives that electoral victory would require more than campaign speeches and political slogans, stressing the importance of organisation, discipline, commitment and continuous engagement with the electorate.

He also cautioned party members against underestimating their political opponents.
According to him, the experience and political strength of opposing candidates should serve as motivation for Labour Party members to organise better, work harder and ensure that no area of the senatorial district is taken for granted.
He identified the polling unit as the foundation of the party’s electoral strategy.
Bourdex charged every Ward Chairman and executive to take responsibility for their respective wards, ensuring that every polling unit is properly identified, organised and effectively covered.
He also urged the party to consolidate its strengths, strengthen weaker areas and resolve internal disagreements through reconciliation.
For the LGA executives, he emphasised the need to coordinate the activities of the wards under their supervision and take responsibility for their respective local government areas.
He summarised the strategy in a simple message:
“Win your Polling Unit. Win your Ward. Win your LGA. Together, we win Abia North.”
A major highlight of the meeting was the participation of the Honourable Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, who attended alongside members of his team.
Bourdex described Osonwa’s participation as significant, noting that the federal lawmaker did not merely attend as an observer but actively contributed to the discussions.
He commended Osonwa for his contributions and described his participation as a demonstration of the importance of collaboration among Labour Party leaders and elected representatives.
Bourdex also expressed appreciation to the lawmaker for making a financial donation towards the Labour Party and the success of the meeting, describing the gesture as a demonstration of solidarity and commitment to the collective political project.
One of the key messages from the engagement was the need for party members to see the coming election as a collective Labour Party project rather than an individual campaign.
According to him, the focus must remain on strengthening the party and working collectively for the success of all its candidates.
He also linked the party’s electoral objective to the continuation of Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s administration, expressing support for the governor’s re-election and describing his administration as one that has renewed confidence in what government can accomplish in Abia State.
