Chief Chidiebere J. Okoh, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC will secure 80 per cent of the votes cast in Abia State in the 2027 general election.
Okoh said the target is achievable if APC members across the state put aside their differences and work together to deliver the party’s candidates.

Speaking on the strength of the APC ahead of the elections, Okoh said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has no credible challenger in the race for Bende Federal Constituency.
He dismissed the chances of other contenders, including Chima Anyaso, arguing that they lack the legislative experience and political weight required to unseat the Deputy Speaker.
“Benjamin Okezie Kalu has no credible competitor in Bende. Chima Anyaso and the others are inexperienced and cannot compete with him,” Okoh said.
On the Abia North Senatorial contest, Okoh threw his weight behind Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, insisting that the former Governor remains the candidate with the experience and capacity to continue representing the zone.
“Orji Uzor Kalu is all the way for Abia North because nobody else has the experience and required capacity to keep doing what he is doing in the zone,” he said.
Okoh also predicted victory for APC’s Orji Udeagha in the state constituency contest, saying the party’s candidate will defeat the incumbent, Oziomachi.
With Benjamin Kalu in Bende, Orji Uzor Kalu in Abia North and Orji Udeagha in the state constituency race, Okoh said APC has enough political strength to retain its positions and make further gains across Abia.
“We are on ground. From now till January 16 and February, we will work. For the governorship, we will make sure victory is guaranteed,” he said.
Okoh therefore called on APC members to stop working at cross-purposes and unite behind Tinubu and the party’s candidates, saying the 2027 election presents the party with an opportunity to demonstrate its strength in Abia.
