The political landscape of Abia State ahead of the 2027 general elections received a significant boost as the Nzuko Arochukwu Women’s Wing Worldwide officially passed a resounding vote of confidence in the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, and the Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa.
The influential socio-cultural women’s group also explicitly endorsed both leaders for a second term in office come 2027.
The declaration was made during a high-profile solidarity and courtesy visit by the leadership of the group to Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa at his National Assembly office in Abuja.
Solidarity and Changing Narratives
The delegation was led by the President General of the Nzuko Arochukwu Women’s Wing Worldwide, Ezinne Chibuzo Onyekwere (Olaedo).
Speaking on behalf of the group, Ezinne Onyekwere expressed the deep appreciation of Arochukwu women for the quality of leadership currently being witnessed in their constituency and the state at large. She noted a stark contrast between the stagnation experienced under past representations and the relief, progress, and inclusive governance the people are currently enjoying under the current administration.
The women expressed absolute solidarity with the lawmakers, emphasizing that their home-front support remains unshakeable because the dividends of democracy are finally reaching the grassroots.
Accountability and the Journey So Far
Responding to the delegation, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa expressed profound gratitude to the women for the surprise endorsement and their consistent prayers.
Taking the visitors through a retrospective analysis of his mandate, Hon. Ibe highlighted his journey in the green chamber over the past three years. He candidly outlined the milestones achieved in infrastructure, community empowerment, and human capital development, while also acknowledging the economic limitations and systemic challenges faced along the way.
He urged the women to remain steadfast and politically active, charging them to sustain and scale up their continuous support for both his office and Governor Alex Otti to ensure the consolidation of good governance beyond 2027.
”The progress we have recorded is a product of partnership. To secure the future of our constituency and finish the great work Governor Alex Otti has started in Abia, we must march into 2027 with undivided unity,” Hon. Ibe stated.
The endorsement by the dynamic Nzuko Arochukwu women’s structure is widely viewed by political analysts as a major indicator of the strong grassroots footing and popularity the Labour Party administration continues to enjoy within the Arochukwu/Ohafia axis.
