Bishop Prof. Emeka Nwankpa, the Convener of the South East Mandate for Good Governance, has urged the people of the South East to take full advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
In a statement, Bishop Nwankpa described voter registration as the gateway to political participation and good governance. He stressed that without a voter’s card, the voices of citizens remain silent in the democratic process where leadership choices are made.

The renowned cleric and statesman underscored the importance of massive participation by Ndi Igbo, noting that voter apathy or negligence in registration only worsens political marginalisation. He emphasised that the region’s demographic strength must be converted into real political influence through active participation at the polls.
“The destiny of our people lies in our hands. The very first step towards shaping that destiny is to register and collect your PVC. Every registration counts, every vote counts, and together we can change the narrative for the South East,” Bishop Nwankpa declared.
He further charged youths, women, first-time voters, and even those who recently relocated within the region to take the exercise seriously, reminding them that political empowerment begins with registration.
Bishop Nwankpa also appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, religious institutions, and civil society organisations to join in mobilising grassroots participation, saying that collective effort is key to ensuring that the South East translates its numbers into tangible political outcomes.
