Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu has expressed strong confidence that Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, will record an overwhelming victory in the 2027 governorship election, irrespective of the political platform on which he chooses to contest.

Onyeizu made this assertion while responding to questions from journalists who paid him a New Year courtesy visit. The journalists had sought his views on whether Governor Otti’s decision not to join former Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could have any negative impact on his chances of securing a second term.

According to Onyeizu, Governor Otti’s re-election prospects remain solid and assailable, stressing that the governor’s exceptional performance since assuming office has earned him widespread acceptance across party lines in Abia State.

He noted that the governor’s achievements in critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, civil service reforms, security, and financial management have significantly transformed the state and restored public confidence in governance.

Onyeizu further emphasized that Governor Otti’s leadership style, transparency, and people-centered policies have endeared him to the electorate, making his political affiliation largely irrelevant in the eyes of Abians.

“In 2023, Governor Otti had to convince the people with his vision and credibility. Today, his works speak loudly for him. Based on his performance, 2027 will be far easier than 2023,” Onyeizu stated.

He concluded by affirming that Abians are more concerned about continuity of good governance than party labels, expressing optimism that the governor will enjoy massive support from voters across the state in the next election.
