PRESS STATEMENT
HON. MUNACHIM ALOZIE CONDOLES WITH THE FAMILY OF VICTIMS OF THE UMUIMO JUNCTION TRAGIC ACCIDENT; CALLS FOR URGENT TRAFFIC SAFETY MEASURES
I received with profound shock and deep sorrow the heartbreaking news of the fatal road accident that occurred yesterday at Umuimo Junction, close to Osisioma Junction, involving a family whose lives of some of its members were tragically cut short.
The incident, which I am told, involved a private vehicle crashing into a parked trailer loaded with crates of drinks along the busy expressway, is both painful and distressing. On behalf of myself, my family, and the good people of Obingwa–Osisioma–Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this very difficult time. May God grant them the strength to bear this irreparable loss, extend His healing hands upon the survivors, and grant eternal rest to the departed souls.

This tragic occurrence once again brings to the fore the grave dangers posed by indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty trailers along major highways and expressways across the country. Such practices not only obstruct traffic flow, but also constitute a serious threat to lives and property, especially at night and during poor visibility.
I, therefore, call on the relevant traffic management and road safety agencies, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other concerned authorities, to urgently enforce strict measures prohibiting the parking of trailers and articulated vehicles along busy expressways.
Designated trailer parks and holding bays should be properly identified, equipped, and enforced to prevent a recurrence of such avoidable tragedies. Human life is sacred, and no effort should be spared in ensuring that our roads are made safer for motorists and pedestrians alike. It is my hope that lessons will be drawn from this unfortunate incident, and concrete actions taken to avert future loss of innocent lives.
Once again, I pray that God comforts the bereaved family and grants them the fortitude to endure this painful moment.
I am,
Hon. Munachim Alozie
Member representing
Obingwa–Osisioma–Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency
