Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has approved the appointment of Coach Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel as the new Head Coach of Enyimba International Football Club, Aba.

Enyimba International FC, Nigeria’s most decorated football club, is one of Abia State’s most prominent sporting brands on the African continent. The club is a two-time CAF Champions League winner and multiple domestic league champion, with a long history of projecting Abia State on the continental football stage.

In recent years, Enyimba has witnessed a decline from its traditional standards of excellence. The Abia State Government, under the leadership of Governor Otti, has reiterated its commitment to restoring the club’s status as a dominant force in Nigerian and African football, while also repositioning it for professionalism, sustainability, and strong corporate governance.

The appointment of Coach Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel is part of the state government’s strategic efforts to strengthen the club’s technical department, improve its competitive performance, and lay a solid foundation for long-term success.

Coach Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel is an experienced football tactician with CAF A, B, and C coaching licenses. He has served as Technical Adviser and Head Coach for several clubs in Nigeria and Cameroon, recording notable achievements. His accolades include the Nigeria National League (NNL) Best Coach Award in 2025.

Governor Otti has expressed confidence that the coach’s experience, technical expertise, and professional discipline will play a key role in the rebuilding of Enyimba International Football Club and help return the team to its rightful place among Africa’s football powerhouses.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu.
