The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu (FNSE), has called on the people of Ohafia—whom he described as a people known for courage, discipline, honour, and unity—to sustain the noble values for which they are widely recognized.
Engr. Emetu made this call at the Ohafia Central Primary School Field, Elu Ohafia, while declaring the Ohafia Reorientation Summit open. He maintained that these enduring values have played a vital role in strengthening families and building cohesive communities.

The Ohafia-born Deputy Governor strongly condemned drug and substance abuse, cultism, criminal practices, moral decline, and the vandalization of public infrastructure, noting that these vices pose serious threats to the lives and future of Ohafia youths. He urged young people to embrace enterprise, education, agriculture, and community development as pathways to a more productive and fulfilling life.
He further emphasized the importance of mindset transformation alongside infrastructural development, calling on all stakeholders to collaborate in guiding and mentoring the youth.
The event was attended by prominent Ohafia-born dignitaries, including the Member representing Ohafia South State Constituency, Hon. Chief Kalu Mba Nwoke (Etieokwe Erieokwe); former Deputy Governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu (PhD); the State Commander of NDLEA; the National President of Thunderbolt Sermon Preachers Int’l, Mr. Kelechi Oji; the Director General of GODA, Engr. Obinna Agwu Odum; former Mayor of Ohafia Local Government, Chief (Dr.) David Onuoha Ogbah (Bourdex); and other notable speakers.
