Abuja, April 2, 2026 — The atmosphere at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) headquarters in Central Area, Abuja, was electric yesterday as the nation’s premier broadcasting outfit celebrated its 75th anniversary. Distinguished guests, including the Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris FNIPR, and top Directors-General of national media agencies, joined staff and stakeholders to honour the rich legacy of Radio Nigeria.


At the heart of the celebrations was Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu “Magic Fingers,” President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) of Nigeria. Addressing attendees during the anniversary media briefing, Comrade Kalu delivered a compelling goodwill message that resonated with pride, nostalgia, and optimism for the future of Nigerian broadcasting.
In his address, the RATTAWU President lauded the dedication of Radio Nigeria staff over the decades, emphasising their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s media landscape. He encouraged continued commitment to journalistic excellence, innovation, and public service, highlighting FRCN’s enduring impact on Nigerian society.
The gathering was a moment of reflection and celebration, with leaders and media personnel acknowledging FRCN’s contribution to national development, while also renewing commitments to support the growth and modernisation of Nigeria’s broadcasting sector.
As the celebrations drew to a close, it was clear that the legacy of Radio Nigeria is not only preserved in its history but continues to inspire generations of media practitioners across the country.
