Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu, development advocate and co-founder of the Abia Industrial Innovation Park (AIIP), has expressed profound joy over the latest breakthrough in Abia State’s quest for sustainable industrial transformation. He described the newly approved Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mother Station as “a decisive step toward repositioning Abia as an energy-secure, industrially competitive state.”
Abia State has recorded a landmark achievement as the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has formally granted the License to Construct (LTC) for the Lijie Gas Nigeria Limited CNG Mother Station, to be sited inside the Abia Industrial Innovation Park (AIIP), Ukwa West. This approval marks the official green light to commence construction and signals a major leap in Abia’s transition to cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable energy solutions.

In what many observers have described as a bold stride toward sustainable industrial development, the project introduces Abia’s first-ever CNG Mother Station, a critical infrastructure that will support industries, transport operators, and emerging business corridors across the state. Once operational, the station is expected to significantly lower fuel costs, enhance energy security, and stimulate industrial productivity.
A remarkable highlight of this achievement is the strategic role played by Triple-H Investments Limited, an indigenously owned company from Isuikwuato. The firm successfully attracted foreign partners, coordinated technical submissions, and managed the federal licensing process on behalf of the project proponents. Their involvement underscores the growing capacity of Abians to engineer world-class investments and drive complex industrial projects from concept to approval.
According to project timelines, the CNG Mother Station will move swiftly into its implementation phase, with full site mobilisation projected for late Q4 2025. Industry analysts note that the facility will not only create jobs but also unlock new economic opportunities within the wider AIIP ecosystem, one of the flagship economic zones championed by Governor Dr. Alex Otti, OFR.
For Engr. Onyeizu and many development-focused stakeholders, this milestone is more than a procedural approval; it is a symbol of the new Abia, which is open, ambitious, investment-friendly, and ready to embrace the future of clean energy.
“As these projects take shape,” Onyeizu affirmed, “Abians will begin to witness the true meaning of sustainable development, where innovation meets opportunity, and where local capacity meets global standards.”
More updates are expected as the project progresses into subsequent phases, marking yet another strategic win for Abia under the progressive leadership of Dr. Alex Otti.
