Deputy Governor of Abia State, join millions of voices across Nigeria and the global Christian community to mourn the passing of a spiritual icon, a father in the faith, and a dearly beloved son of Ohafia Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai.
Engr. Emetu described the late Christian Leader as one of Africa’s most revered Gospel preachers and an international evangelist whose ministry spanned decades and touched continents, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was a beacon of hope, a vessel of divine inspiration, and a tireless labourer in the vineyard of the Lord. His unwavering commitment to spreading the message of Christ, healing broken lives, and lifting the downtrodden has left an indelible mark on generations of believers.

In his speech, he emphasized that his passing is not just a loss to the Christian body or the global faith community, in his words—“it is a deeply personal loss to me, and to our shared hometown. We have lost a father, a guide, and a man whose life embodied humility, service, and purpose. His legacy as a man of God, a bridge-builder, and a patriot will live on in the countless lives he transformed and the spiritual foundations he laid across nations” he said.
He prayed God to grant the immediate family, the entire Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the wider Christian community the fortitude to bear the great loss he also prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
