ANYA Warns Abia NDC Against Moves To Alter Bende Candidate, Threatens Protest Vote

ABIA — The Abia North Youth Agenda (ANYA), a youth advocacy group led by Hon. Udoeze Kalu, has cautioned the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abia State against alleged moves to alter the party’s candidate for Bende Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group drew the attention of the NDC National Leadership to what it described as “incessant attempts” by a few leaders in the state to upturn the decision of the Bende people to retain Honourable Pascal Karibe Ojigwe as their candidate.

ANYA warned that any attempt to replace Ojigwe against the wishes of the constituency could trigger a protest vote against NDC candidates across the zone, stressing that “injury to one is injury to all.”

The group also alleged that some members of the Abia State leadership’s legal department were working with certain individuals to replace the candidate through what it described as a “back-door” legal process.

ANYA urged the national leadership to intervene and prevent actions capable of destabilising the party, warning that any attempt to manipulate the Bende candidacy could have serious political consequences for the NDC in Abia North.

The group called for respect for due process and the wishes of the Bende electorate, insisting that maintaining internal cohesion remains critical to the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 elections.

The NewsWatch reports that the allegations and warnings are those of ANYA and have not been independently verified by the platform.
