Following the revelation of Senator Abba of Adamawa after his surprising removal as senator of the federal Republic of Nigeria and his serious allegation that his removal was undemocratic and a kind of personal vendetta of the the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio as a plot to get back at every senators who voted against his emergence as the senate president of the 9th Assembly. Chief Oko has warned political opponents and the senate presidency against any act that will jeopardize our nascent democracy.

“This a not a matter to be taken likely or treated with levity because any attempt by any politician or group of desperate politicians plotting to upturn the election of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is an enemy of the people of Abia North Senatorial Zone, in particular, Abia State and Nigeria at large.

“Every lover and promoter of good governance and progressive development can attest to the fact that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu won his election square through free and fair election because he is the best candidate and greatly loved by his people for bringing democratic dividends closer to them.

“The alleged plot by senate presidency and his defeated opponents will be counter productive and invitation to anarchy which must be resisted by people of good conscience and lovers of freedom. Political differences you be settled among politicians at their level which the people are allowed to manage their lives with the little they have, not to be put into more stress because when two elephants fight, it is the grass that will suffer”, concluded.

Chief Chidiebere Okoh, the Action Democratic Party’s Candidate for Abia North, who contested against Orji Uzor Kalu, used the opportunity to call on stakeholders and people close to the senate presidency to dissuade any act of illegality that will stabilize the polity at a time Nigerians are struggling to grapple with the realities of the economy downturn that have befallen them as a people. Not even the judiciary should allow itself to be used by mean politicians to thwart the will of the people.
