The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Arochukwu LGA has commenced preparations for the 2027 general elections with a strategic engagement involving ward chairmen and party leaders at the Ozu Abam country home of the Abia North Senatorial candidate, Rt. Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole.
The gathering, which had in attendance Rt. Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole (Abia North Senatorial District), Mr. Elevis Ignes Ogbonna (Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency) and Hon. Ijoma Ogbonnaya Chinedu (Arochukwu State Constituency) as candidates of the party, also marked the inauguration of the Presidential and National Assembly Campaign Council for Arochukwu LGA. Mr. Ikenna Okoroafor was inaugurated as the Coordinator for Arochukwu LGA.
At the meeting, Mazi Emmanuel Okwuobasi Kanu was unanimously selected as Chairman of the NDC Stakeholders Forum, with Chief Emeka Kalu Nmeri as Deputy Chairman.
Other appointments include Mr. Paul Nkole as Secretary, Mrs. Grace Chijioke as Publicity Secretary, and Mrs. Gina Adaoluwa as Assistant Publicity Secretary and Pro-Group Mobilisation Coordinator, alongside other members of the forum.
Discussions focused on strengthening coordination among ward structures and ensuring effective grassroots engagement across Arochukwu LGA ahead of the elections.
In Elu-Ohafia, further consultations were held with the leadership of Elu-Ohafia Compound and the representative of Eze Nwanyi Elu-Ohafia.
The engagement provided an opportunity to exchange views with the compound leadership on community concerns and political activities ahead of the polls.
The visits underscore the importance of ward structures, community leadership and grassroots voices in shaping the activities of the NDC across Arochukwu and Ohafia.
For the NDC and Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole, the quest for a new Nigeria under the leadership of Mr. Peter Obi remains central to the 2027 conversation, where issue-based campaigns are the only pathway to the Nigeria of our collective dreams and aspirations.
