Police Officer Arrested in Platueu for cutting off wife’s hand over N3,000

The Plateau State Command has arrested one of its officers who allegedly cut off his pregnant wife’s hand over her refusal to give him N3,000. The Police Inspector whose name is yet to be ascertained was said to have had a minor disagreement with his wife over N20,000. Vanguard reports that the said Inspector left the money at home in the Dong area of Jos North LGA of the state and when he came looking for the money, an argument ensued leading to him turning violent. Labour warns Nigerian Govt: “No minimum wage by end of May, no peace.”

The Federal Government has been given till the end of May by Organised Labour to complete the process of enacting the new national minimum wage for workers. The request was made on Wednesday in Abuja during the 2024 International Workers Day celebration by Mr Monroe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC.
