The leadership philosophy and enduring message of legendary reggae icon Bob Marley have found renewed expression in the leadership style of Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu, President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU).
This position was made known in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of RATTAWU Nigeria, Comrade Izang Francis Atsen, who described Prince Emeka Kalu as a courageous and visionary leader whose commitment to workers’ welfare mirrors the ideals of justice, unity, empowerment, and hope championed by Bob Marley throughout his lifetime.

According to the statement, Bob Marley’s music went beyond entertainment to become a global symbol of resistance against oppression, liberation, cultural pride, and the struggle for dignity among ordinary people. In the same spirit, Prince Emeka Kalu was commended for demonstrating resilience, solidarity, and purposeful leadership in advancing the objectives of RATTAWU across Nigeria.
The Union noted that under Kalu’s leadership, RATTAWU has witnessed renewed visibility, stronger organizational coordination, active participation in national discourse affecting workers, and sustained advocacy for improved welfare and working conditions for professionals in the media, arts, and culture sectors.
The statement further praised the RATTAWU President for promoting unity across councils nationwide while encouraging professionalism, discipline, inclusiveness, and service-driven leadership among members of the Union.
“Like Bob Marley’s music that gave voice to the voiceless, Comrade Prince Emeka Kalu has continued to amplify the concerns and aspirations of RATTAWU members while sustaining the relevance of the Union in challenging times,” the statement noted.
Special emphasis was also placed on Kalu’s commitment towards preserving the heritage and future of the Union as RATTAWU prepares to celebrate its golden jubilee, tagged “RATTAWU @50.”
The Union maintained that Prince Emeka Kalu’s leadership continues to inspire confidence and hope among members, stressing that true leadership is measured not merely by occupying office, but by the ability to positively impact lives, strengthen institutions, and leave enduring legacies for future generations.
The statement concluded with a celebration of Bob Marley’s timeless influence and legacy, declaring, “Bob Marley Lives — Celebrate the Legend.”
