The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa, has been successfully screened and cleared by the national leadership of the Labour Party (LP) to contest the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The successful screening exercise took place today at the National Headquarters of the Labour Party in Abuja, marking a definitive step forward in his re-election bid.

Accompanied by a crowd of enthusiastic supporters, party stakeholders, and key loyalists from Abia State, Hon. Osonwa presented his credentials and scorecard to the screening committee.
Speaking immediately after receiving his clearance certificate at the national headquarters, a visibly confident Hon. Osonwa expressed profound gratitude to God, the leadership of the Labour Party, and the people of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency for their unwavering support and trust.
The Party leaders at the headquarters noted that Hon. Osonwa’s flawless clearance was widely expected, given his highly praised legislative performance over his current term.
The first-time lawmaker has consistently made headlines for groundbreaking initiatives in his constituency—including his massive poverty alleviation drives, massive agricultural equipment and road-grading intervention programs, and his fully funded educational scholarships for hundreds of local students.
The successful screening at the Abuja headquarters officially sets the stage for Hon. Osonwa’s campaign machinery to transition into full gear, reinforcing the Labour Party’s position and dominance in Abia State ahead of the 2027 national polls.
