Mrs Fati Attahiru, the wife of the late Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, and his family, boycotted the National Awards ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday over the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.)’s failure to invite them to receive the national honours award on Attahiru’s behalf. The late COAS was among the 13 persons listed to be honoured posthumously by the President. Abia court remands man for the murder of two

A middle-aged man, Ugochukwu Nwanaji, has been remanded in the Umuahia Custodial Centre, Abia State, over murder charges. Nwanaji was alleged to have beheaded a 65-year-old woman, Mrs. Mercy Chukwu, and a 68-year-old man, Mr. Moses Uyai, on September 14, 2016, and October 10, 2016, respectively. While Chukwu was allegedly killed at Amanato Ezukwu in the Bende LGA of the state, Moses was killed at Otampa in the Isuikwuato LGA. The prosecuting counsel from Zone 9 Police Command, Umuahia, Romanus Eke, pleaded that the defendant is remanded in custody. Nigeria’s President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, conferred National Honours Awards on 447 recipients comprising Nigerians and non-Nigerians labelled “friends of Nigeria”. The award investiture ceremony was held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. The PUNCH reported that 5000 nominees were received by the George Akume-led awards committee, but only 447 were selected for the awards. FG approves construction of Lekki-Epe Airport

The Federal Government has approved the construction of the Lekki International Airport in the Lekki-Epe area of Lagos State. The Lagos State Government said it would begin the construction of a new airport in the Lekki-Epe area of the state in 2023. The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, presented the approval for the new airport to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on behalf of the Federal Government at the Lagos Economic Summit 2022, held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
