As Nigeria joins the rest of the world in commemorating the 2026 International Workers’ Day, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, extends warm greetings and heartfelt appreciation to all workers across Abia State for their unwavering commitment, resilience, and immense contributions to the growth and development of the State.
Today, we celebrate the courage, discipline, and doggedness of Abia workers whose dedication and sacrifices continue to sustain the machinery of governance, strengthen institutions, and drive productivity across all sectors.

The Deputy Governor acknowledges the critical role workers play in building a stronger and more prosperous Abia and commends their steadfastness, especially in the face of prevailing economic realities and evolving challenges.
He calls on workers in the State to continue supporting the transformational leadership of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, Executive Governor of Abia State, whose administration remains committed to prioritizing workers’ welfare through the prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements, improved working conditions, and policies that promote dignity, security, and opportunities for all.
Deputy Governor Emetu notes that the present administration recognizes that the strength of Abia lies in the productivity and well-being of its workforce and will continue to pursue reforms that place workers at the center of governance and development.
As we mark this important day, may it inspire renewed hope, stronger commitment, and a collective resolve to build the Abia of our dreams.
Happy Workers’ Day to all Abia workers.
