The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu FNSE, on Thursday inaugurated the Labour Party ward and Local Government Area executives in Ohafia LGA at his country home in Amaekpu Ohafia.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Deputy Governor, popularly known as “Ike Abia,” charged the newly inaugurated executives to remain committed to the core principles of the Labour Party, including fairness, inclusiveness, unity, and active participation in grassroots politics.


Engr. Emetu assured the party officials of his unwavering support in carrying out their responsibilities effectively from the ward level to the local government structure, emphasizing the importance of strong party coordination ahead of future political engagements.
He commended party members and stakeholders in Ohafia LGA for conducting peaceful congresses across the wards and the local government, describing the process as a demonstration of political maturity and unity within the party.
The Deputy Governor further urged the executives to discharge their duties in line with the ideals and constitution of the Labour Party while reaffirming his total support for the re-election bid of Governor Alex Chioma Otti OFR, whom he described as a transformational leader committed to rebuilding Abia State.
In his remarks, the Ohafia LGA Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Chief Ogbuagu Oko, popularly known as Sally, expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor for his leadership and continued support for the party structure in the area.
He pledged to work harmoniously with the ward executives to strengthen the party across Ohafia LGA and assured party faithful that the Labour Party would mobilize massive support for all its candidates in future elections, including those contesting in Ohafia LGA, Abia North Senatorial District, and the governorship position.
Chief Oko also praised Governor Otti for what he described as remarkable developmental strides across the state, noting that the current administration has changed the negative narrative associated with past leadership in Abia and positioned the state among the fastest-developing states in Nigeria.
The event witnessed the presence of party stakeholders, supporters, and community leaders who gathered to witness the formal inauguration of the new executives.
