The Deputy Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu (FNSE), officially inaugurated the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Ohafia Branch, in a formal ceremony held yesterday.

The inauguration welcomed key stakeholders of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Ohafia, led by its President, Barr. Ukasanya, alongside prominent members such as Barr. Okechukwuma Kalu, and the Women Leader, Mrs. Ngozi Agbai. Other distinguished guests and community leaders were also present at the occasion.

The event began with opening remarks from Barr. Ukasanya, who spoke passionately about the significance of preserving the Igbo culture and language. He delivered his address in Igbo, reinforcing the value of cultural pride and identity. On behalf of the council, he expressed deep appreciation to the Deputy Governor for his continuous support of the Igbo community and urged him to sustain his efforts in promoting their welfare.

In his keynote address, Deputy Governor Emetu charged the executive members to be true ambassadors of the Igbo people, both locally and globally. He highlighted the importance of unity, strategic thinking and a strong sense of cultural pride in representing Igbo ideals on the world stage.

He further emphasized the core values of the Igbo community—integrity, respect for tradition, and commitment to progress, encouraging the council to uphold these principles in all their endeavors. He cited the administration of His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, as an example of responsible and culture-driven governance.

The inauguration marked a significant step in strengthening the presence and influence of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide in the Ohafia community, with a renewed focus on cultural heritage, community development, and leadership.
