Comprehensive Needs Assessment Across Ebonyi State

The organization conducted an extensive needs assessment program across over 70 remote communities in Ebonyi State, directly engaging residents to identify pressing infrastructural and social challenges.

Communities visited and engaged include:

Abakaliki LGA, Ohaukwu LGA, Ezza South LGA, Ezza North LGA, Ivo LGA, Ikwo LGA, Afikpo North LGA, Afikpo South (Edda), Ohozara, Onicha LGA. And we visited over 70 communities out of these LGA where we interacted with the people

Findings from these visits revealed:

Schools without perimeter fencing
Absence of clean water supply
Lack of restroom facilities
Poor educational infrastructure
Severe healthcare service limitations

Field interactions also indicated that a significant portion of communities across Ebonyi State face serious clean water shortages and limited access to quality healthcare services—conditions that directly impact educational outcomes and youth development.

In some areas such as Akaeze (Ivo LGA), power infrastructure is physically present, yet electricity supply has remained unavailable for over a decade, leaving communities in prolonged darkness despite visible transmission lines.

Documented Reports from Rivers State

While VHAY did not physically conduct field visits in Rivers State, the organisation’s state representative submitted verified photographic documentation highlighting extremely dilapidated school facilities across several communities.

In the interest of transparency and factual reporting, VHAY clearly distinguishes between physically visited communities (Ebonyi State) and documented reports received from representatives (Rivers State).

This honest approach strengthens institutional credibility and reinforces the organization’s commitment to truth-based advocacy.
