AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU GCFR
SIR, LET’S MOVE FROM ‘ENDURE’ TO ‘PRODUCE’ IN 90 DAYS
Your Excellency,
I write not merely as a former contestant for the House of Representatives (Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South), but as a loyal APC member who stood in the sun, convinced voters to trust your Renewed Hope, and defended your reforms when the naira note swap brought tears to market women’s eyes.
Sir, the problem is not your reforms. The problem is the speed of relief.
Nigerians are not anti-Tinubu. They are anti-hunger. And hunger is now a political bullet heading toward all of us — your government, our party, and the stability of our nation.
Here is the truth: You have fixed prices (PMS, forex). But you have not fixed production costs or security for producers. A farmer cannot plant when bandits own the field. A mother cannot wait for macroeconomic indicators to improve when her child has not eaten today.
As a Business Strategist and having just recently finish engaging with everyday Nigerians using Abians as a reference representation, here are 6 practical actions that require no new laws, only your will. They will deliver visible results in 90–120 days.

ACTION 1: OPERATION “RETURN TO FARM” — SECURITY FIRST
The Immediate Security Solution (90-Day Plan)
Your Excellency, food inflation is 40%+ not because Nigeria lacks land, but because farmers have been chased off their land in the North-West, North-Central, and parts of the South-East.
Doable within 90 days:
Re-purpose 10,000 NSCDC personnel — train them for farmland security within 30 days. They already protect critical infrastructure. Now they protect food.
Establish 50 “Agricultural Security Outposts” in high-risk farming corridors (Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau). Each outpost gets:
200 mixed personnel (military + NSCDC + local vigilantes)
Satellite communication (Starlink — deployable in 2 weeks)
Rapid response motorcycle squad (bandits use bikes; we match them)
Solar-powered fencing and night vision drones
Create a “Farmers’ Intelligence Network” — pay local farmers N25,000 monthly to report bandit movements via a simple encrypted SMS shortcode. Verified reports that lead to arrests earn a N200,000 bounty.
Declare “Harvest Highways” during planting and harvest seasons (August–November). Military escorts every 2 km. No tolls for agricultural vehicles. Any attack triggers an automatic 48-hour full-scale aerial response.
60-day amnesty with teeth — bandits who surrender with weapons go into a federal farming rehabilitation program (not prison). They work the land they once terrorized. Refusal or reoffence means permanent enemy-of-state status with no negotiation.

Result: Within 90 days, farmers return to farms. Harvest improves. Food prices begin to drop.
ACTION 2: DECLARE A “FOOD LOGISTICS EMERGENCY” (NOT PRICE CONTROLS)
Use the existing Nigerian Railway Corporation to run night-only refrigerated food trains from the North to the South.
Make it toll-free for farmers for 6 months.
Result: Perishable food waste drops by 40%; prices in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Abuja drop within 3 weeks.
ACTION 3: THE “GOVERNOR’S FOOD CHALLENGE”
Publish a monthly national ranking of states by food price reduction.
Reward the top 3 governors with direct federal infrastructure grants (roads, solar power, water projects).
Result: Governors will compete to lower prices to save their political future. You become the referee, not the villain.
ACTION 4: DIESEL REBATE FOR AGRO-PROCESSORS (TEMPORARY & TARGETED)
For 90 days, give registered farmers, millers, and transporters a 50% diesel rebate through a simple USSD code.
Condition: They must show a verified 15% drop in final product price (e.g., garri, rice, maize).
Result: Immediate pain relief without returning to the unsustainable subsidy regime that nearly bankrupted us.
ACTION 5: THE 35% WOMEN INCLUSION MANDATE — NO PRIMARY RE-RUN REQUIRED
Your Excellency,
We both know the primaries are done. We cannot un-issue tickets. And no serious leader would suggest chaos.
But governance is larger than elections.
Today, you have direct, unchecked power over thousands of appointments: Ministers of State, Special Advisers, Board Chairpersons, Commission Chiefs, Agency Directors, and Ambassadors.
I humbly propose an Executive Directive — not a law, just your will — effective immediately:
35% of all federal political appointees (boards, commissions, agencies, and presidential aides) must be women. Publish the list quarterly for public accountability.
Every ministry without a female Director of Planning or Finance loses 10% of its capital budget until compliance. Nothing motivates a Permanent Secretary like budget cuts.
Create a single role: Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women’s Economic Inclusion — with a seat at the National Economic Council table. Not ceremonial. A real budget. Real veto power.
Okay Sir, I know Nigeria Men are yimu-ing at this part of my letter
Sir, jokes aside, the women who lost primaries are not asking for pity. They are asking for portfolios. Give them NIMC, NAFDAC, the Solid Minerals Development Fund, the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund. And Watch how quickly they fix what men have left broken.
And for 2027? Let the INEC NWC announce now: Any male candidate who does not field a female deputy or running mate forfeits 30% of party campaign support. The men will grumble. The women will vote. And we will win. Sir, I know you are laughing at this Point .. I am pushing my luck I know but a closed mouth is a closed destiny.
ACTION 6: THE “MY RENEWED HOPE” DASHBOARD (VISIBLE PROGRESS KILLS PROTESTS)
Launch a simple SMS service where any citizen can text their LGA and receive:
“Your fuel subsidy savings built this solar borehole. Your customs duty reform built this road. Your PMS tax reduction funded this health center.”
Update it weekly or monthly . It should be Kept simple.
Result: Nigerians will endure pain if they can see what the gain is buying. Trust returns. Protests lose steam.
Sir, You have the courage and I personally believe that the renewed hope agenda is an excellent framework. I kindly request you add speed, security, and visibility.
Nigerians can no more survive until 2027 but with these actions you can show them prosperity beginning in July 2026. Members of the APC party are ready to defend these actions. We are ready to campaign on them. We are ready to tell our neighbors: “Yes, it was hard. But look — here is your road. Here is your cheaper food. Here is your daughter in a boardroom. Here is your farmer back on his land.”President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made this happen.
Your Excellency, history rarely judges leaders for difficult reforms. History judges whether difficult reforms produced transformation. The opportunity remains enormous.
Respectfully submitted, with party loyalty and patriotic urgency,
Dr. Martina Amarachi Ononiwu
APC Stalwart & Former Candidate, House of Representatives (Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South)
“Nigeria is too important for good ideas to remain unemployed.”
