Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has congratulated his Osun State counterpart, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his electoral victory, describing the peaceful conduct of the governorship election as a reflection of Nigeria’s democratic maturity.

In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday, August 16, 2026, Otti commended the people of Osun State for turning out to exercise their franchise peacefully, despite what he described as some observed irregularities during the electoral process.

The Abia Governor said the orderly conduct of the election before, during and after the exercise demonstrated the commitment of the people to democratic values and peaceful coexistence.

Otti also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for what he described as its professionalism, while appreciating security agencies and other stakeholders for their roles in creating an environment conducive for the election.

According to him, the successful conduct of the exercise would further strengthen democratic governance and reinforce the power of the electorate to choose their leaders.

While congratulating Adeleke as he prepares to begin his second tenure in office, Otti urged him to remain focused on delivering people-centred governance, improving the welfare of Osun residents, expanding opportunities and sustaining peace and development across the state.

“As an Abia grandson, we stand with you and your state in the shared vision of building stronger institutions and delivering the dividends of democracy to our people,” Otti said.

The Abia Governor further prayed for wisdom, good health and strength for Adeleke as he continues to lead Osun State, expressing confidence that the governor would continue to serve the people with distinction.

The message was signed by Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, Governor of Abia State, on August 16, 2026.
