Following the official announcement by the Council of Chiefs, the Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, has mourned the passing of his royal father, His Royal Highness Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, JP, Eziogo and Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ujuruzie Ancient Kingdom, who died on 26 September 2026 at the age of 89.
Hon. Osonwa had the painful duty of announcing his passing on the floor of the House of Representatives.

In a personal tribute, he said: “To me, he was not only a revered traditional ruler but also a father figure, a mentor, a source of wisdom, and a steady presence whose love and guidance touched countless lives.”
It was from the late monarch that Hon. Osonwa received the highest chieftaincy title in Ebem.
As the longest-serving Paramount Ruler in Ohafia Udumeze, Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha devoted his life to the service of his people. Hon. Osonwa said: “He ruled with compassion, wisdom, humility, and genuine love for the community he cherished. His reign was marked by a deep commitment to peace, unity, justice, and the preservation of our rich traditions and heritage.”
“While the Kingdom mourns the loss of an exceptional monarch, our family mourns a beloved patriarch whose influence extended far beyond the throne,” he added.
He thanked God for the life the Ezie lived and prayed for the repose of his soul and for comfort for the royal family, the Ebem Ujuruzie Ancient Kingdom and all who mourn him.
“Farewell, Ezie. Farewell, Father. Farewell, Uncle. Your legacy will live on.”
