Women from Amamiri Ihechiowa and Obichie Ihechiowa communities in Arochukwu Local Government Area have expressed strong support for the NDC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, while commending the contributions of Rt. Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole to the development and empowerment of women in the communities.
The women made their positions known during their respective meetings attended by Hon. Chinedu Ijoma Ogbonnaya, the NDC candidate for Arochukwu State Constituency, alongside Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole, the NDC candidate for Abia North Senatorial Zone.
At the Amamiri Ihechiowa women’s meeting, the delegation was received by the President-General of the community, Chief Ama O. Ama.
The women expressed excitement over the presence of Uko Nkole, recalling his support during his tenure as Member of the House of Representatives for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.
They specifically appreciated him for supporting their aspiration to have a hall of their own, noting that the facility provided a permanent space for their meetings and community activities. They alluded to the reality that his past leadership actions provided a hall where he and his team were received, a gesture they said is the true test of grassroots leadership, accountability and responsible leadership.
The woman, who described Nkole’s intervention as a demonstration of his commitment to grassroots development, prayed for his success in the 2027 Abia North Senatorial election.
They also expressed their support for the presidential ambition of Mr Peter Obi, whom they said represents their hope for a better Nigeria.
In a gesture that further underscored their longstanding relationship with Nkole, the women presented him with food items, a tradition they said has continued over the years.
The warm reception and presentation reflected the cordial relationship between the former federal lawmaker and the women of the community.
Obichie Ihechiowa Women Commend Water Project
Meanwhile, at the Obichie Ihechiowa Women’s August Meeting, the women also received Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole and Hon. Chinedu Ijoma Ogbonnaya.
The women used the occasion to appreciate Nkole for his role in facilitating what they described as the only sustainable potable water supply measure in the community.
They noted that access to reliable potable water remains critical to the wellbeing of families and the overall development of the community, expressing gratitude for the intervention.
Nkole, who is seeking to represent Abia North Senatorial Zone on the platform of the NDC in 2027, has continued to highlight his record of constituency interventions and grassroots engagement as part of his campaign message.
The meetings also provided an opportunity for the NDC candidates to interact directly with women at the grassroots, listen to their concerns and reinforce their commitment to inclusive representation and community-focused development.
The events further highlighted the growing political activities across communities in Arochukwu ahead of the 2027 elections, with the NDC candidates seeking to consolidate grassroots support while presenting their vision to the electorate.
Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole has consistently linked his 2027 senatorial aspirations to the need for effective representation, sustainable development and a stronger voice for the people of Abia North.
