The Ihenta community in Ohafia Local Government Area has commended the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, following the resumption of work on the Ihenta-Ohafia Road project after a brief lull.
Construction activities resumed on Friday, July 4, 2026, after the federal lawmaker reportedly intervened to facilitate the contractors’ return to site amid delays affecting several federally funded projects across the country.
According to community sources, Hon. Osonwa engaged the relevant authorities to ensure work recommenced, reaffirming his commitment to seeing every project attracted to the constituency through to completion despite prevailing budgetary constraints.
The lawmaker was represented during the contractors’ remobilisation by the Councillor representing Ebem Ohafia Ward, Hon. Ukariwe Inyima Uduma, who joined community leaders and other stakeholders at the project site.
Speaking during the visit, Uduma said Hon. Osonwa remained committed to improving rural road infrastructure across Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, stressing that the ongoing road project forms part of broader efforts to enhance transportation, ease the movement of people and goods, and stimulate economic activities in the area.
He further assured residents that the lawmaker would continue to monitor the progress of projects executed within the constituency to ensure they are completed in line with approved specifications.
Reacting to the development, leaders of the Ihenta community, led by Engr. Iroha Serjin Anya, expressed appreciation to Hon. Osonwa for what they described as his prompt intervention in restoring work on the road.
The community leaders also urged the construction firm to adhere strictly to quality standards to deliver a durable and long-lasting road that would serve residents for many years.
Residents who spoke at the site welcomed the contractors’ return with optimism, describing it as a demonstration of the lawmaker’s resolve to ensure that constituency projects are not abandoned but completed for the benefit of the people.
