The African Democratic Congress, which serves as the platform for a coalition of opposition figures preparing for the 2027 general elections, received notice that the hotel in Abuja would no longer host the event.
The cancellation came just days before the planned gathering, according to a statement from the ADC Vanguard, the coalition’s mobilisation arm.

Party officials have said they will go ahead with the convention and are now looking for an alternative location.
Some supporters have suggested moving the event to cities such as Kano or Kaduna, while others have insisted that the programme will take place regardless of the setback.
The ADC released a timetable for nationwide congresses and the national convention earlier this month.
Polling unit and ward congresses were set for 7 April, with the national convention fixed for 14 April.
The exercise is meant to elect new party leaders and strengthen structures ahead of future polls.
This is not the first time a venue linked to the coalition has pulled out at short notice.
In 2025, another Abuja hotel withdrew from hosting the unveiling of the ADC as the opposition platform, citing internal compliance issues.
No reason has been given publicly by Transcorp Hilton for the cancellation.
The hotel has not issued a statement on the matter.
Coalition members say they remain focused on completing the congresses and convention as scheduled.
They have already given the required notice to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the activities.
The development comes at a time when political activities are increasing across parties in preparation for the next election cycle.
