UMUAHIA, ABIA STATE – Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor “De Ultimate Commander” (Ikenga Gburugburu of Ohafia and Nneato Ancient Kingdoms), has extended warm congratulations to Nigerian football icon, Kanu Nwankwo (Papilo), as he marks his 50th birthday.

In a goodwill message issued on behalf of the United Abia Artistes and Patriots (UAAP) Forum and the OTTIMANIA Movement, both organizations under his leadership as President, Ambassador Offor described Kanu as not only one of Nigeria’s greatest football ambassadors but also a founding member of the UAAP Forum whose influence continues to inspire generations of young Nigerians.

He praised the former Super Eagles captain for his exceptional football career, remarkable humility, humanitarian service, and enduring contributions to sports development and nation-building.

Ambassador Offor also commended Kanu for his outstanding leadership as the Chairman of Enyimba International Football Club, noting that he has continued to make tremendous impact in repositioning the club, strengthening its legacy as one of Africa’s most successful football institutions, and inspiring a new generation of football administrators and players.

Popularly known as “Papilo,” Kanu is widely regarded as one of Africa’s greatest footballers. During his illustrious career, he played for clubs including Ajax, Inter Milan, Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion, and Portsmouth, while representing Nigeria with distinction. He remains one of the few footballers in history to have won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, Premier League, FA Cup, Olympic Gold Medal, and the Africa Cup of Nations. He also won the African Player of the Year award twice and is celebrated for his humanitarian work through the Kanu Heart Foundation.
