Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, a chieftain of the NDC and the party’s 2027 senatorial aspirant for Abia Central Senatorial District, has expressed concern over the disagreement between the leadership of the party and the OK Movement regarding the constitution of the 59-Member Presidential Campaign Council by the Movement.
The respected cleric has appealed to all parties to urgently resolve the matter in the interest of unity and the overall strength of the party.
Bishop Nwankpa urged the NDC leadership and the OK Movement to embrace dialogue, mutual understanding and harmony, stressing that any prolonged disagreement between the party and the movement could have implications for the party if not carefully and promptly managed.
Recall that the disagreement followed the constitution of a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council by the Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement to mobilise support for the NDC presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 elections.
The NDC leadership subsequently dissociated itself from the Council, saying it was not constituted by the party and that the authority to establish such a structure rested with the party leadership.
The OK Movement, however, maintained that it was an independent political organisation with its own structures and processes, leading to the ongoing disagreement between the movement and the party leadership.
The respected cleric called on the stakeholders to put their differences aside and work together towards building a united force capable of achieving the desired victory in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
