Sydney, Australia – A 49-year-old Nigerian national, Dirichukwu Patrick Nweke, has been taken into custody for his alleged involvement in a large-scale drug operation at the Villawood Immigration Detention Centre in Sydney. Nweke, who was awaiting deportation, is accused of participating in a $9 million methylamphetamine trafficking ring.

According to the New South Wales Police, a search of the detention centre on July 11 uncovered two kilograms of meth, valued at $165,000, hidden in porridge boxes. Three mobile phones were also seized during the raid.

Nweke has been charged with multiple offenses, including directing a criminal group and supplying a large commercial quantity of prohibited drugs.

This arrest follows the previous seizure of two kilograms of methylamphetamine and $169,000 in cash linked to the syndicate. The investigation is ongoing, and Nweke’s case highlights the extent of international drug trafficking operations.
