The 2027 race for Bende Federal Constituency received a fresh boost in Abuja on Friday as Nzuko Bende Abuja endorsed Hon. Pascal Karibe Ojigwe, candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for the House of Representatives seat.
The endorsement was made at an extraordinary general meeting of the socio-cultural body, attended by Bende elders, stakeholders, business leaders and youth representatives resident in the Federal Capital Territory.
Karibe Ojigwe was represented at the meeting by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Amb. Monyeazor Oluebube Sunday, who conveyed his greetings and presented his 7-Point Divine Mandate Blueprint to the gathering.
According to Amb. Monyeazor, the blueprint focuses on tackling youth unemployment through the proposed Bende Skills & Sports Academy, attracting federal projects, improving road infrastructure from Uzuakoli to Ugwueke, strengthening education and providing Bende with effective representation in the Green Chamber.
“Hon. Pascal Karibe Ojigwe did not send me to come and share money. He sent me to come and share vision,” he told the gathering, stressing that his principal was seeking the support and prayers of his people ahead of 2027.
Receiving the delegation, Chairman of Nzuko Bende Abuja, Chief Iheanyi Kalu, said the organisation had watched Karibe’s journey from his football career to his service as Abia State Commissioner for Sports.
“Any son of Bende who remembers home is a true son of Bende,” Chief Kalu declared, adding that Nzuko Bende Abuja had adopted Karibe as its project and would support him spiritually, physically and politically.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, High Chief Enwerem, described the visit as significant, saying Karibe had demonstrated that he understood the concerns of the people.
The President of Abia Development Organization (ADO), Chief (Dr.) Nnanna, who attended the meeting, also expressed support for the aspiration.
He cited Karibe’s football career in Germany, his Super Eagles experience and his tenure as Abia Commissioner for Sports, arguing that such exposure could be brought to bear on development in Bende.
The meeting reached its high point when members gave Karibe a standing ovation and unanimously endorsed him through a voice vote as the organisation’s preferred candidate for Bende Federal Constituency.
The campaign representatives subsequently presented Divine Mandate-branded T-shirts and face caps to Chief Iheanyi Kalu, who wore them amid applause from members.
The gathering ended with prayers for Karibe Ojigwe and a renewed call for unity among Bende people ahead of the 2027 elections.
