It was a great day for the people of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom as they rolled out their drums to celebrate this year’s New Yam Festival, Iriji Ohamoha.
The Accountant General of Abia State, Deaconess Njum Nnennaya Uma-Onyemenam FCA , a noble seed of Ohafia, joined in celebrating the great cultural event.
Speaking at the event, Deaconess Njum , who was ably represented by Mrs Nkechi Jim- Dorgu, congratulated Nde Ohafia on the successful Ohafia Day celebration. She prayed that the Almighty God will continue to make Ohafia a better place and grant bountiful harvests in the years to come.
Deaconess Njum also used the opportunity to thank the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, for hosting the Iriji Ohafia Festival for the third consecutive time. She prayed that God will continue to bless and protect him for the good of Nde Ohafia.
She also congratulated Nde Ezieogo Ohafia, ably led by the Udumeze of Ohafia, Eze Awa Udonsi, and all Ohafia Monarchs, for a successful Iriji Ohafia 2026 celebration.
The highlight of the event was the beautiful cultural troupe performances and the Iwa Ji (breaking of the new yam) by guests and government officials.
