It was a colourful and memorable celebration of heritage as the Obuda people marked their annual cultural festival, popularly known as Obuda Day, drawing sons and daughters of Ngwaland from far and near.
The event showcased the rich customs, values, and traditions of the Ngwa people, with cultural displays, traditional dances, and community bonding that highlighted the people’s deep respect for their ancestral roots.

Among the dignitaries in attendance was Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu, a proud son of Ngwa land, who has remained consistent in identifying with his people and supporting initiatives that promote unity, culture, and development. His presence at the event further underscored his commitment to preserving Ngwa heritage and strengthening communal ties.
Engr. Onyeizu was warmly received by youths, elders, and women of the community, who sang praises in his honour and expressed their admiration through songs and cheers. The overwhelming reception reflected the love, respect, and acceptance he enjoys among his people.
Speaking at the celebration, Onyeizu commended the people of Obuda and Aba at large for their steadfastness in upholding Ngwa culture and traditions despite the pressures of modernization. He described cultural preservation as a vital tool for identity, unity, and the transmission of values to younger generations.
Obuda is one of the sixteen indigenous villages that make up Aba, and Obuda Day serves as a platform for indigenes to reflect on their history, celebrate their achievements, and renew their commitment to peace, progress, and cultural continuity.
The celebration once again reaffirmed the pride of the Ngwa people in their roots and their collective determination to keep their cultural heritage alive for generations to come.
