The Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, has congratulated the people of Abia State as the state marks its 35th anniversary.
In a goodwill message commemorating the anniversary, Osonwa paid tribute to the resilience, enterprise and enduring spirit of Abians, noting that much of what the state has achieved over the past three and a half decades has been driven by the hard work and determination of its people.
He particularly acknowledged the contributions of traders, entrepreneurs, teachers, professionals, workers, families and communities whose efforts, he said, have continued to shape the identity and progress of Abia.
The lawmaker also reflected on the challenges the state has faced over the years, including prolonged periods of infrastructural decay and institutional decline, noting that Abians demonstrated remarkable patience and resilience through those difficult years.
Osonwa, however, expressed optimism over what he described as a new phase of development currently unfolding across the state under the leadership of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.
He cited the reconstruction of long-abandoned roads, rehabilitation and restoration of schools, and other ongoing interventions as signs of renewed attention to infrastructure and public institutions across Abia.
According to him, the renewed development momentum offers an opportunity for Abians to look beyond the challenges of the past and collectively build a state that better reflects the enterprise, creativity and aspirations of its people.
He added that the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency is also experiencing increased attention to critical infrastructure, particularly in the areas of roads, bridges and schools, stressing the importance of sustained collaboration between communities and government at all levels.
The federal lawmaker extended his felicitations to all Abians at home and in the diaspora, urging them to use the 35th anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far while renewing their commitment to the future of the state.
He called on Abians to remain united, resilient and committed to building on the foundations laid by previous generations, while ensuring that the next generation inherits a stronger, more prosperous and better-developed Abia.
