The OTTIMANIA Legacy Movement has welcomed the appointment of its member, Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu, as Director-General of the Abia State Labour Party Governorship Campaign Council for the 2027 election.

Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, approved the constitution of the campaign council, with himself as Chairman and Deputy Governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu as Vice Chairman.

Other state-level appointments are Dr. Eric Egwuibe, Director of Finance; Dr. Chibuzor Obiesili, Director of Strategy/Planning; Mr. Kelechi Nwaiwu, SAN, Director of Legal; Barr. Onyebuchi Ememanka, Director of Publicity; Dr. Christian Anokwuru, Director of Special Duties; and AIG Arungwa Nwazue (Rtd.), Director of Security.

The three senatorial zones are represented by Professor Udochukwu Ogbonna as Abia Central Zonal Coordinator, Chief Emeka Charles Kalu as Abia North Zonal Coordinator and Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike as Abia South Zonal Coordinator.

President of OTTIMANIA Legacy Movement, Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor, “De Ultimate Commander,” (Ikenga Gburuguru of Ohafia and Nneato Ancient Kingdoms), described Agwu’s appointment as a strong vote of confidence in his experience and record of public service.

Offor also specially recognised OTTIMANIA members appointed into the campaign council, describing their inclusion as a reflection of the depth of experience and commitment within the movement.

Among those he acknowledged are Barr. Kelechi Nwaiwu, SAN, OTTIMANIA Legal Adviser; Dr. Christian Anokwuru, OTTIMANIA Advisory Board Member; Chief Emeka Kalu, OTTIMANIA Advisory Board Member; Col. Emeka Chilaka (Rtd.), OTTIMANIA Director of Strategy; Hon. Mandela Obasi, Member; and Dr. Prince Temple Nwosu, OTTIMANIA State Youth Leader, alongside other OTTIMANIA stakeholders appointed to various responsibilities in the campaign council.

Offor, on behalf of the entire OTTIMANIANS, commended Governor Otti and the Labour Party for entrusting the campaign’s overall coordination to their member.

“We thank His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, and the Labour Party for this confidence reposed in our member. Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu is a tested hand, and we are confident that he will bring his experience and organisational capacity to bear on this assignment,” Offor said.

Agwu is a former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and currently serves as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Abia State University, Uturu.

Governor Otti appointed him to lead the ABSU Governing Council in 2025, describing the council members as people of integrity with good records whom he could rely on to help transform the university.

The former Speaker has also taken part in key events linked to the Otti administration’s infrastructure and institutional programmes.

At the commissioning of the Omenuko Bridge and the 30-kilometre Abam-Ndiokereke-Arochukwu Road in February 2026, Agwu, who chaired the occasion, recalled the decades-long neglect of the bridge and described its reconstruction as a turning point for the people.

In July 2026, he also led the ABSU Governing Council in inaugurating the search committee for the university’s ninth substantive Vice-Chancellor, charging members to conduct the process with transparency, diligence and broad consultation.

OTTIMANIA believes that Agwu’s legislative background, experience in institutional administration and knowledge of Abia’s political terrain will be useful as the Labour Party begins preparations for the 2027 election.

Ambassador Offor said the movement expects Agwu to bring the same organisational discipline to the campaign while working with the wider Labour Party structure across the state.

For OTTIMANIA, the appointment also strengthens its push for continuity beyond 2027 — a position the movement has consistently tied to sustaining the policies, projects and reforms of the Otti administration.

“OTTIMANIANS are proud of this appointment. We believe Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu will deliver, and we stand firmly behind him as he takes on this responsibility,” Offor added.

The campaign council is scheduled for inauguration on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 12 noon at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.
