President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the Service Chiefs and appointed new ones.


According to a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, General Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), replacing General Christopher Musa.

The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu; Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke has been appointed as the Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye will continue to serve as the Chief of Defence Intelligence.

The statement also noted that President Tinubu expressed his deepest appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the other Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.

The President urged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to earn the confidence placed in them and to enhance the professionalism, vigilance, and camaraderie that characterize the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

“All appointments take immediate effect,” he added.
