The Chinedu Onyeizu Campaign Organization has observed with keen interest the growing public reactions that followed Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s recent comments on the 2023 presidential election. What began as a national political debate has now reopened unresolved questions closer to home, particularly concerning the credibility of the 2023 Abia South senatorial election. In doing so, public opinion has once again reaffirmed what we have consistently maintained: that Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu was the rightful choice of the people of Abia South.
Across Abia State, voices from different segments of society: legal practitioners, youth advocates, community leaders, and ordinary citizens, have openly expressed discomfort with what they perceive as a glaring contradiction. Many have questioned the moral standing of Senator Abaribe to condemn alleged electoral irregularities at the national level while remaining silent on similar concerns surrounding his own re-election. The comparison drawn by these citizens is simple and compelling: just as millions believe their presidential votes did not reflect the final outcome, so too do the majority of Abia South constituents believe their senatorial votes were not honestly represented.

The 2023 elections were held during a period of unprecedented political awakening in the South East. The electorate, especially young people, rallied overwhelmingly around the Labour Party, driven by a desire for change, accountability, and a new kind of leadership. In Abia South, this momentum was unmistakable. Yet, despite this clear political direction, a senatorial result was announced that many continue to regard as inconsistent with what transpired at the polling units. This disconnect has remained a source of grievance, now brought back into the public consciousness by Senator Abaribe’s own remarks.
Respected Abians, including prominent legal voices, have openly stated that the same standards used to question the presidential election must, in fairness, be applied to the Abia South senatorial contest. Their interventions have reinforced a growing consensus that the declared result did not reflect the true will of the electorate. Increasingly, the public narrative points to Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu as the actual beneficiary of the people’s votes.
Beyond the issue of electoral legitimacy lies a deeper frustration. Many constituents have used this moment to interrogate years of representation marked, in their view, by missed opportunities. Questions about youth empowerment, infrastructure, education, and human capital development dominate public discourse. For many Abians, the controversy surrounding the election is inseparable from a broader yearning for leadership that delivers measurable impact at the grassroots.
It is within this context that Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu continues to stand out as the embodiment of a different future, one defined by competence, innovation, and service. The renewed public debate has not weakened our resolve; rather, it has strengthened it. The consistency of these voices, emerging organically from the people, vindicates our position that Abia South was denied the opportunity for renewed and purposeful representation in 2023.
Going forward, The Chinedu Onyeizu Campaign Organization therefore maintains, with clarity and confidence, that what happened to Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu’s mandate in 2023 Abia South senatorial election will not be repeated in 2027—the will of the people. The dissatisfaction and criticisms now openly expressed by citizens serve as further confirmation that the announced outcome did not capture that will.
We remain convinced that in any genuinely free, fair, and transparent election, the people of Abia South will once again choose Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu. History is already correcting the record, and the truth is steadily finding its voice through the people themselves.
Chinedu Onyeizu remains the people’s choice, any day, any time as the group continues to mount pressure on him to declare for 2027 under any umbrella party the performing Governor of the state will run.
