The 50th anniversary celebration of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) was not only a commemoration of the union’s rich history and achievements but also a moment that strengthened the bond of African unity and international cooperation. One of the major highlights of the golden jubilee event was the remarkable speech delivered by the Liberian Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador John Ballout, whose heartfelt remarks captured the admiration of guests.

In his address, Ambassador John Ballout passionately acknowledged the sacrifices Nigeria made in restoring peace and stability in Liberia during the country’s period of civil unrest. According to him, Liberia remains deeply grateful for the critical role Nigeria played in rescuing the nation at a time when hope appeared lost.

He emphasized that Nigeria’s intervention was driven by genuine love for humanity, African brotherhood, and the pursuit of peace across the continent, noting that Nigeria never demanded anything in return despite the enormous sacrifices made by its government and citizens.

The ambassador described Nigeria as a true leader in Africa, whose contributions to peacekeeping and regional stability can never be forgotten. He added that the peace and democratic progress Liberia enjoys today remain part of the enduring legacy of Nigeria’s commitment and sacrifice.

Speaking further, Ambassador Ballout expressed Liberia’s desire to strengthen collaboration with Nigeria, particularly in the entertainment and creative industries. He acknowledged Nigeria’s global success in music, film production, broadcasting, theatre, and cultural promotion, describing the country as a role model that Liberia proudly admires.

According to him, Liberia is willing to partner with Nigerian professionals, investors, broadcasters, artists, and entertainers to create opportunities that would deepen cultural exchange, empower young people, and promote African heritage on the global stage.

The ambassador also encouraged interested Nigerians to take advantage of investment opportunities in Liberia. He highlighted sectors such as real estate, oil and gas, gold mining, agriculture, tourism, and other emerging industries as fertile grounds for investment and economic partnership.

The successful hosting of the colourful and impactful 50th anniversary celebration also reflected the visionary leadership of RATTAWU’s National President, Comrade “Magic Finger,” whose dedication and commitment continue to reposition the union for greater achievements.

Under his leadership, RATTAWU has witnessed progressive transformation, stronger national recognition, and growing international relevance. The golden jubilee celebration itself stands as a testament to his administrative capacity, leadership qualities, and passion for the growth and unity of the union.
